Nelly May's Parlour

Very friendly service and a lovely cosy café. It's my favourite place to go. The homemade food and cakes are amazing. Love Nelly May's and highly recommend a visit

We were looking for a place that was baby and dog friendly. We asked on the off chance if it was ok to take the dog in. Of course was the answer. The food was all home made including the sourdough bread which was delicious. The cakes were so inviting we bought some for takeaway. The welcome was warm and we would not hesitate to recommend this tea room to anyone.

Curiosity Cottage

Great place for breakfast. This was our first place when we arrived. Great menu and the food was really good. Friendly staff and child friendly too. I would highly recommend a visit.

one of the waitresses made a rude comment about me being on my phone when she approached the table (I was actually updating the important potentially life saving ICE information on my grandma's phone while we had stopped for a break) and then we were served flour heavy scones for the cream tea which was a let down as this is my first visit to one of the cream tea motherlands and my first experience of a Devonshire cream tea so disappointing. However the chips my husband had with his ham and eggs were very good hence the slight save on the stars.

Swiss Cottage Cafe

33 High St, Ilfracombe EX34 9DA, UK – 01271 864433

A funny little café on Ilfracombe high street. Go to Ilfracombe. It is a great place but stick to the harbour. We ended up in this funny little tea shop because we were starving and had 30 minutes to wait for a bus. They do tea and scones and toasties (grilled sandwiches) and standard sort of lunch fare. They also do milkshakes. Word of warning for non UK tourists: English milkshakes are basically flavoured milk so you might be disappointed with that option. I had the "luxury" version which ended up being flavoured milk with whipped cream on top. Food was fine. Place was clean. Service friendly and prompt. Great for a quick bite but a bit expensive for what it was. At the end of the day, if you find yourself in Ilfracombe head down to the harbour to one of the many eateries there. More fun and a better view!

Very good value for the money friendly local servicce with an old world charm
