Lovely calming Hotel just outside the hustle and bustle of Ilfracombe, set in its own gardens with some amazing tasting food on offer evenings and weekends off season, as one of the owners i highly recommend it.

The Habit Boutique Rooms

46-48 Fore St, Ilfracombe EX34 9DN, UK – 01271 863272

We had a perfect stay at The Habit! The hotel is beautiful, and our room was outstanding. Spotlessly clean and well-furnished, with amazing views. From the moment we arrived we felt very looked-after. I have a health difficulty, but this was accomodated for with no fuss whatsoever. The bar and restaurant are great. It's nice to have a cocktail in the evening! Nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Very cosy, comfortable modern boutique hotel. Would go back! Although sadly not dog friendly.

Wentworth House Ilfracombe

Wentworth House Hotel, 2 Belmont Rd, Ilfracombe EX34 8DR, UK – 01271 863048

A comfortable out of town hotel with some parking, spacious and neatly decorated rooms and helpful staff.

Visually a bit old hotel, rooms need some redecorating , but everything is clean and works! Nice position in town. Parking can be done on the grounds, which is nice, WiFi works well.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Pier Brewery Tap & Grill

The Quay, Ilfracombe EX34 9EQ, UK – 01271 865516

Happy days Returning after 20 years Came to Ilfracombe with my family and stayed at Sandy Cove Hotel Now our eldest lives in Braunton

Cook Island Freehouse

Mullacott Cross, Ilfracombe EX34 8NY, UK – 01271 865500

At 8pm on a Tuesday evening the bar was quite empty which was a bit off putting as it is in the edge of a holiday park and within easy access of a few more parks. However the staff are pleasant and the tables clean. The menu was not outstanding in it's selection of dishes but there was a reasonable choice. The prices are on a par with similar establishments in the area . We both chose the salmon fishcakes which come with salad and the fish cakes were lovely. The salad was all fresh and crispy if a bit unimaginative. I would certainly visit again .

The pub itself is very nice. Good play area for the kids. Generally the staff are friendly if a little slow on noticing you are waiting for service at the bar. The good is good quality and generous portions. Be warned however, park in the wrong place and a song and dance of epic proportions begins! The pub andthe holiday park are not owned by the same people and if you park inadvertently on the holiday park land you will know about it! Perhaps some better signage or a bigger car park would help because at peak times there is no space otherwise. Ruined a nice family meal to be honest.

The Hele Bay Pub

39 Beach Rd, Hele Bay, Ilfracombe EX34 9QZ, UK – 01271 867795

Very nice welcoming pub. Food was good pub grub, really tasty and hearty. Advice is to book in advance if you want to take dogs with you as they keep one side for dogs. Prices very reasonable. Beer and wine was good too, all in all we were very happy indeed

Food is amazing & such a friendly welcoming atmosphere inside. I highly recommend if you are staying in Ilfracombe.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Hele Valley Holiday Park

Hele Bay, Ilfracombe EX34 9RD, UK – 01271 862460

Quiet campsite with clean amenities. Our only problem was with the toilet and shower block. The facilities look delightful but are poorly designed. One quick shower floods a considerable area outside the shower cubicle. A longer stay in the shower floods several other changing areas. Only rigorous mopping by each user makes the shower block usable. Luckily we were not at a peak time. Pity as most other aspects were very good indeed. This is the first time I have seen a fully equipped dog showering area on a campsite complete with ramp for dog to reach owners waist level.

Very clean site very friendly and helpful near lots of attractions and beaches close by within walking distance of short drive away nice walks nearby nature trail on site

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Mill Park Limited

Mill Lane, Berrynarbor, Ilfracombe EX34 9SH, UK – 01271 882647

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Mill Park Ltd. It is a great base to explore North Devon. The staff were helpful and courteous and the site is really well maintained, despite the fact they had had awful weather prior to our stay. The site facilities are clean and well kept. We stayed in the Top Field and the showers weren't the best in the world, but more than adequate and very clean. We enjoyed the onsite bar in the evening which is great for families. We will definitely return.

It's a shame I can't give a higher rating than 5! Mill Park is a great place to stay. The toilets and showers are spotless the Pub on site is welcoming and I particularly enjoyed being able to take a few pints of carry out back to the tent ( to avoid trapped dad syndrome!). We took a trailer tent and found that the pitch was a generous size with enough space to park you car next to it. You may wish to call them when booking with the details of your tent / van as oksome of the pitches have a bit of a rake on them which can be challenging when pitching up. It was nice to see that the site was patrolled politely and professionally to remind you and other people to respect the 10pm noise curfew. ( It's easy to forget the time on holiday) The weather has been terrible and has effected the state of the pitches. This has been managed well by the staff who are only too happy to help providing advice and wood/ cardboard when required. Despite all the mud the facilities are still fantastically clean which is again a credit to the staff. In similar conditions on a different site we may have decided to go home a lot earlier but as Mill Park is so well managed and maintained we stayed 12 days out of our allotted 14. Thanks to all the staff !

Napps

Coast Road, Berrynarbor, Ilfracombe EX34 9SW, UK – 01271 882557

Nice site to stay on. Shower block was ok not the best ive used. Large cubicals witch was handy for our family of 4 to use. Tent pitches could do with been abit more level. Amazing for walks around the area. Extreme wind when we stoped witch forced alot of people to take porches off there tents including myself.

Fantastic views, friendly site. Great facilities for kids.

Sunnymead Farm Camping and Touring Site

Mortehoe Station Rd, Woolacombe, Ilfracombe EX34 8NZ, UK – 01271 879845

Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent views and very clean facilities. Main road not too noisy at all and good access to towns by bridleway (good for longer walks). We loved the friendly horse and donkey on site, and there is plenty of room for dogs. Would definitley come back!

Lovely place simple makes you go out and view the area
